"Unique Childers" is the Salad Bowl of the Wide Bay located 325km North of Brisbane, 52km South-West of Bundaberg, and 36km from beautiful Woodgate Beach is the historic town of Childers.  A green Jewel set in the rolling hills of red volcanic soil surrounded by cane fields and orchards. A Treasure Trove of early Queensland Architecture, wide main street (the Bruce Highway) is heritage listed and lined with shady mature Leopard trees and quaint Buildings.

The district boasts an ever expanding population in excess of 6000 residents.  Childers is the central town with other population centres at the coastal town of Woodgate Beach, riverside Buxton, country communities at Cordalba, Apple Tree Creek, and Booyal to the North. 

Central Location:  40 minutes to Bundaberg, 45 minutes to Hervey Bay, 40 minutes to Maryborough, 25 minutes to beautiful Woodgate Beach, 20 minutes to the Burrum Coast National Park and Buxton.

The town has 3 Medical Centres, 2 Chemists, a Hospital, a Day Care Centre 6months to school age plus before and after school care, a Kindergarten, State and Catholic Primary Schools plus a State High School year 7 to year 12.  There are 2 supermarkets Woolworths and IGA.

The main employment in the region is rural based with small crops, orchards and the Isis Central Sugar Mill being the major employers.

Water Recreation:  Salt and Fresh water recreation facilities throughout the area.

Childers Festival is held once a year on the 31st July Childers comes alive with its Multicultural day, an event that attracts up to 50,000 people for a great day of entertainment and food from all over the world.
